The Gardenscape School Program took place in Saskatoon at Prairieland Park on March 24th & 25th, 2011 for Grade 3 students. Please contact Jackie Frovarp at Prairieland Park for registrations for next March.
“LITTLE GREEN THUMBS” SCHOOL PROGRAM QUALIFIED RESOURCE PEOPLE CONDUCT PRESENTATIONS AT FIVE, 12 MINUTE STATIONS FEATURING THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
GOOD BUGS -- BAD BUGS Bugs that affect horticulture in a positive and negative way are identified at this station. The students will be given the opportunity to view these live bugs.
THE REAL DIRT ON COMPOSTING! The students learn about the composting process, and see what the final product will eventually look like.
GROWING WITH PLANTS This station addresses the proper procedure for planting both seeds and their projects back to their classrooms.
WHAT'S FOR LUNCH? The topic at this station is how birds survive on various plant seeds and fruits during the winter months
THE AMAZING PLANTS! The topic at this station is all about plant parts and how we use them in different by-products in everyday life |
