Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week (CALW)

A program developed for grade 2-5 students
Help connect your students to the people who grow the food they eat!
During this week, Farmers, Ranchers, and the individuals who support them will visit classrooms and share their personal agriculture story. Students have the opportunity to ask questions and further explore how agriculture in our province affects them personally.

Additional ways to celebrate Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week:
Click here for lesson plans on farm stewardship to utilize in your classroom prior to your volunteer visit. This is a great way to generate discussion with your volunteer and the students.
Involve your students in an agriculture-related classroom activity.
Borrow a manure milkshake or by-products activity kit from our office and complete the activities with your students. There are also many resources and student activities available on the website, or do one of your own.

Read agriculture stories in your classroom.
Check out your library for books about agriculture. Can’t find any? We can supply you with one free agriculture storybook for your classroom.
