Heartland Livestock Services
The best day for a tour is on our regular Wednesday sale to give participants the full auction experience. Large groups of small children should tour on a non sale day for their safety. The tour will begin at the receiving gate and continue through the process we use to sell cattle, as well as the processing area where cattle are branded, dehorned, castrated, and vaccinated. The tour also includes history of livestock marketing and current programs and regulations. The tour ends in the sale ring to watch the sale in progress and a question and answer period. Questions are encouraged through the entire tour. Participants should be aware that the tour will be through the barn area and they should dress accordingly.

Ravine Ecological Preserve
The Ravine Ecological Preserves consist of a 1.7 mile (2.8 km) hiking trail, part of which is a “floating boardwalk” that works its way through grassland, aquatic, and aspen parkland habitat. The parks mandate is to preserve the natural integrity of the site for passive recreational pursuits and ecological education. Through the aspen forest, songbirds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles make their home. Plants such as saskatoon berry, chokecherry, hazelnut, twining honeysuckle, and wood rose all present themselves to the hiker along the trail.

Yorkton Western Development Museum
The Yorkton Western Development Museum has recreated the times and styles of some of the many immigrants who settled in Western Canada. For it was here that sons and daughters from more than fifty cultural backgrounds around the world left their ancestral soil to take up residence in this new and often frightening land. Outdoors, the challenge of turning sod is demonstrated in the line up of agricultural equipment, which includes the gigantic 1916 Twin city gas tractor, one of only two in North America. The Museum offers educational programs and teacher resources. Contact the museum for more information.
