Envirothon

Agriculture in the Classroom is pleased to have been a part of the Envirothon committee for the past three years.

Envirothon is an exciting event in which teams of five high school students exercise their environmental training and problem-solving skills in a competition centered on four universal testing categories (i.e., soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, and wildlife) and a current environmental issue. Team members experience the world in which we live through environment education, hands-on activities, including current and up-to-date issues. The Olympic style competitive nature of some aspects of the program affords participants an opportunity to travel, learn, experience, and compete provincially and internationally. Envirothon helps to prepare our tomorrow's leaders to better understand and influence the world in which they live, regardless of the path chosen.

A team consists of five students and one Advisor/Teacher from the same school. In order to participate in Envirothon, the Advisory/Teacher must register the team. Envirothon is a great time to learn about soils, land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and a current environmental issues. Students compete in a Trail Test and Oral Competition.
