Programs
Agriculture in the Classroom manages or is involved in the following agriculture awareness initiatives:
- Ag Experience - A new event that provides grade 4 students in the Saskatoon and surrounding area with an opportunity to experience agriculture through fun, interactive stations.
- Agribition for Students - Three programs are offered during Agribition in Regina, the Career Expo focuses on career opportunities for high school students, the Agri-Ed Showcase features interactive displays on different agriculture commodities, the AGmazing Challenge provides middle-years students with a chance to solve agricultural challenges while interacting with industry professionals.
- Ag Ambassadors - A network of teachers dedicated to promoting ag awareness.
- Agriculture Roadshow for Teachers - A professional development experience for teachers or soon-to-be teachers.
- Biotechnology Outreach Day - High school students will have an opportunity to explore the fascinating world of biotechnology through interactive sessions at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
- Classroom Presentations - Upon request, AITC is happy to visit schools and give classroom presentations on agriculture-related topics.
- Envirothon - An exciting event in which teams of five high school students exercise their environmental training and problem-solving skills in a competition centered on four universal testing categories (i.e., soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, and wildlife) and a current environmental issue.
- Field Trips - Information on field trips available, categorized by regions in the province.
- Gardenscape School Program
- Little Green Thumbs - An indoor garden program for elementary students helps students value the health of themselves, the environment, and their community.
- Pig-Out on Reading - A fun contest that encourages grade 4 students to read.
- Science Fairs - Links and information on Science Fairs.
