Approximately 28 percent of the total number of Saskatchewan farms are Beef Cattle and Ranching farms (including feedlots).
Restraints such as these are used to protect both the farmer and the animal during ear-tagging, vaccination, and other medical procedures.

The Canadian Cattle Identification Agency ensures that all cattle are tagged at their place of origin. In case disease or problems with animal meat are found, the tag will allow the CCIA to trace back to the original herd and investigate the problem.
