Barns like the one shown here serve to protect animals from harsh weather, provide common feeding and birthing grounds and can store animal feed.
The Canadian Cattle Identification Agency ensures that all cattle are tagged at their place of origin. In case disease or problems with animal meat are found, the tag will allow the CCIA to trace back to the original herd and investigate the problem.

Approximately 28 percent of the total number of Saskatchewan farms are Beef Cattle and Ranching farms (including feedlots).
These are polled Hereford cattle. Polled is the name for the absence of horns in cattle, sheep and goats.
